Federal Heights’ Water World celebrated its 40th anniversary on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019.

The park was officially opened Aug. 4, 1979, initially offering only two simple 400-foot water slides called the Bonzai Pipeline. The water park now covers 70 acres, features more than 50 attractions and has hosted more than 16 million guests over the years. The park’s anniversary day included a gigantic beach ball at Thunder Bay, mermaids at Cowabunga Beach, drummers and colored smoke at the main gates and a large cake.
