A juvenile died on Monday after apparently falling from a vehicle driven by another juvenile in Aurora, according to police.

At about 9 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a local, freestanding emergency room where a juvenile was being treated for serious and suspicious injuries, Aurora police said Tuesday night on the department’s website.

“The initial investigation determined that the juvenile was either riding on or hanging out of a vehicle driven by an older juvenile,” police said. “The vehicle came to an abrupt stop and the younger juvenile came off the vehicle.”

The incident happened on Marguerite Parkway in the Mission Viejo neighborhood, according to police. The juvenile victim was transferred to a local hospital and died on Monday.

The identities of the juveniles were not released Tuesday. An investigation is ongoing.

The incident is the 15th traffic-related fatality in Aurora this year, police said.
