A 39-year-old Lakewood woman has been charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of her husband, according to a news release from the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office

Shannan Dea Begley was charged in connection with the July 26 shooting death of her husband, Patrick Begley, 41, the news release said. She also has been charged with tampering with evidence and two sentence enhancing charges of committing a violent crime with a weapon and committing a violent crime causing death, Jefferson County District Court records show.

She is being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., Nov. 15.

Lakewood police were called about a person suffering a gunshot wound at a house on the 2500 block of South Sheridan Boulevard. Patrick Begley was found dead in the home. Shannan Begley told investigators they had argued and then struggled over a gun, according to the arrest affidavit.
