The Weld County coroner on Saturday identified the man found last Sunday in the riverbed of the South Platte River near U.S. 34 in Weld County.

Brendan Timothy Stewart Hubbard, 32, of Evans, was found near the banks of the river, partially wrapped in a camping tent, Coroner Carl Blesch said in a news release.  He had been missing for several weeks.

The cause of Hubbard’s death will be announced after the completion of an autopsy, the release said. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the death.

A woman told the Greeley Tribune on Tuesday that she was having a picnic near the river Sunday when a group of children said they had seen “someone’s feet” while playing in the water.
