A 20-year-old man is charged with rape after a student contacted Towson University Police yesterday to report the incident.
The victim, an adult woman, advised police that she went to the suspect's apartment to watch a movie around 3:30 p.m. yesterday. When he began to make sexual advances toward her she declined, but he held her down and raped her. He initially blocked the victim from leaving the apartment but then did let her leave. Soon after she contacted Towson University Police to report the incident.
Towson University Police were able to locate the suspect, identified as Onyekachukwu Chukwuebuk Igwilo (20) of the 400 block of Towson Way, 21286 and detained him until Baltimore County Police arrived to further the investigation, which yielded enough probable cause to make an immediate arrest of the suspect.
The victim did suffer a visible physical injury during the incident and was transported to an area hospital.
Igwilo is charged with first degree rape, attempted first degree rape, false imprisonment, and first and second degree assault. He is held on no bail status pending a bail review hearing scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
The Baltimore County Police Special Victims Unit is continuing to investigate.
