Aurora police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at 6:40 a.m. near East Iliff Avenue and Interstate 225, police said. A woman was crossing the road to contact the other driver after being involved in a two-car crash when she was hit, police said.

The woman was transported to a hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries, police said.

The person who hit her fled the scene but was later located, authorities said.

Earlier Saturday, police were looking for a black Nissan Altima that could be from 2015 through 2018. The vehicle’s driver-side bumper will be missing and damaged, and the driver’s side mirror also is missing, police said.
