Car aficionados around the state shelled out a pretty penny for exclusive vanity plates Saturday — and their generosity raised thousands of dollars for disabled Coloradans.

The state auction at the Vehicle Vault car museum in Parker raised $23,540, the Colorado Disability Funding Committee said in a news release.

The priciest plate — MCLAREN — sold for $6,000. Other bidders were able to nab the likes of QUICK, FLUXING and BURNOUT.

The funds raised will be distributed through grants issued by the Disability Funding Committee, which supports innovative ideas to help disabled Coloradans.
