Crashes on Saturday and again on Sunday closed businesses after the vehicles struck buildings on York Road.
On Saturday a vehicle crashed through the front doors of Gibby's Seafood & Gourmet Market in the 2300 block of York Road around 2 p.m. when the driver attempted to pull into a parking space but accelerated instead. The vehicle, a 2006 Jaguar, caused severe damage to the front of the store as it traveled through the front doors, causing glass and debris to scatter. Four patrons suffered minor injuries from the debris; three were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The driver was not injured.
Around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday a vehicle traveling northbound on Dulaney Valley Road near East Joppa Road left the roadway and collided with a building. The building did not sustain structural damage, but a BGE gas meter attached to the building did, causing a gas leak. Roadways surrounding the Towson Town Center from the traffic circle past the entrance to Macy's were closed while Baltimore County Fire Department and BGE responded to the scene to shut off the gas lines and make the necessary repairs. Macy's and the parking garage to Towson Town Center were closed for a period of time but the mall remained open during the repairs. The driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
Both crashes remain under investigation.
