About 5:20pm on Saturday, November 14, 2020, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site warrant arrest resulting in the recovery of a firearm in the area of 3 Nazing Street, Dorchester.
While on patrol in the area of Nazing Street, officers observed an individual walking towards them from Blue Hill Avenue. The officers were familiar with this individual, and were aware that he had an active warrant for his arrest. The individual, identified as Antiowane Davis, 27 years old, of Dorchester, approached the officers and began having a conversation with them. The officers exited their vehicle and informed Davis of the active warrant, and placed him under arrest without incident. As officers removed a black fanny pack from his body, they felt a hard object, consistent with a firearm. Upon opening the fanny pack, the officers discovered a black and silver firearm. The firearm, a Smith and Wesson SW9VE was loaded, with (1) round in the chamber and (16) rounds in the magazine.
Antiowane Davis was arrested by virtue of an active straight warrant issued out of West Roxbury District Court, charging him with Strangulation or Suffocation, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Davis was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Large Capacity Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 2nd offense.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
