One Less Gun: At about 11:06 AM on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 330 Washington Street in Dorchester. While on patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle parked at the bus stop in the area of the aforementioned location. Officers activated their lights and sirens and initiated a traffic stop. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the operator who was merely in possession of a learner’s permit. Officers removed the operator from the vehicle and inside of his front right pocket, officers located a Smith & Wesson SD40 VE loaded with fifteen rounds of live ammunition. Officers attempted to place the suspect under arrest and a violent struggle ensued. Eventually officers were able to remove the firearm from the suspect’s pants and place him into custody.
A query of the firearm led officers to the discovery that it had been reported stolen out of South Carolina.
Officers arrested Daryl Wade, 29-years-old, of Roxbury. Wade is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity of Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, Resisting Arrest, and Unlicensed Operation Motor Vehicle.
