The man injured during a pursuit and officer involved shooting incident on November 14 in Anoka and Sherburne counties was charged Tuesday morning in Sherburne County District Court. Bradley Michael Olsen, 20, of Dresser, Wisc., was charged with felony discharge of a firearm, use of deadly force against a peace officer, being a felon in possession of a firearm and fleeing a police officer. Olsen is currently in the Sherburne County Jail.
Olsen and an Anoka County sheriff’s deputy exchanged gunfire during the incident. Deputy Jeffrey Barrett has been with the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office for five years and is on standard administrative leave.
Olsen was treated at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids for minor injuries sustained when his vehicle crashed. He was not shot.
BCA agents are reviewing body camera, squad camera and witness footage of the incident.
The Anoka and Sherburne County sheriff’s offices and the Ramsey, St. Francis, Elk River and Anoka police departments were involved in the pursuit.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. Once the BCA investigation is complete, the BCA will provide its findings without recommendation to the Sherburne County Attorney’s Office for review.
