At about 11:06 AM on Tuesday November 17, 2020, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest during a motor vehicle investigation in the area of 330 Washington Street in Dorchester. Officers were on patrol when they observed an illegally parked motor vehicle and approached to speak with the operator later identified as Darrell Wade, 29, of Roxbury. Officers removed the operator after learning that he did not possess a valid driver’s license at which time they conducted a pat frisk which led to the recovery of a loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun from inside his right pant’s pocket. The suspect was placed in custody on scene with assistance from additional responding units following a brief struggle. It was later determined that the firearm had been recently reported stolen in South Carolina.
The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest and Receiving Stolen Property.
