At about 4:08 PM on Wednesday November 25, 2020, officers assigned to the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Jacquez Hall, 19, of Roxbury and Malik Goncalves, 22, of South Boston on firearm related charges following an investigation in the area of 39 Linskey Barry Court in South Boston. Believing that the individuals were in possession of illegal firearms, the officers approached to speak with the men as they made their way to a parked motor vehicle. Upon seeing the officers, the two immediately fled on foot through Linskey Barry Court until separating and running in opposite directions at the intersection of Saint Casimir Street and Flaherty Way.
Officers soon caught up with Jacquez Hall at which time they recovered a loaded 9mm Glock 43 handgun equipped with a laser sight and a recoil compensator from inside his jacket pocket. The suspect was placed in custody on scene without incident. Additional responding officers then stopped the second suspect in the area of 40 West 7th Street, placing him in custody without incident after recovering a loaded 9mm Glock 19 handgun which he had discarded as he fled. It was later determined that the second recovered firearm had been recently reported stolen in New Hampshire.
Both suspects will appear in South Boston District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Additionally, Malik Goncalves will be charged with Receiving Stolen Property.
