One Less Gun: At about 2:36 AM on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for shots fired in the area of 33 Neponset Avenue in Dorchester. On arrival, officers observed a motor vehicle pulling up to a residence in the area. The officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the operator who stated that he was picking up a friend in the area. Officers observed a male party exit one of the residences while talking on the phone to the vehicle operator. The male stated that someone had attempted to gain entry to the residence and officers observed a broken shovel in the side yard as well as damage to the door. Further, officers located ballistic evidence on the front porch of 33 Neponset Avenue. Witnesses in the area stated they had heard the front door open and then several loud bangs which sounded like gunshots. Officers were able to check the residence and inside of the male’s bedroom, officers recovered a black Glock 22 .40 caliber firearm which was unloaded. The suspect was taken into custody. The male operator of the vehicle was identified and released from the scene.

Concurrently, officers received information that units from District B-2 (Roxbury) were off with a motor vehicle that had ballistic damage believed to have been sustained in the area of 33 Neponset Avenue.

Officers arrested Sebastian Monteiro Fernandes, 18 years-old of Dorchester. Fernandes is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Destruction of Property, Discharging a Firearm within 500 feet of a Dwelling.

During the booking process, officers recovered a spent shell casing in the suspect’s right shoe.
