About 3:11pm on Saturday, December 19, 2020, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of Pleasant Street and Savin Hill Avenue, Dorchester.
The officers initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Savin Hill Avenue. As the officers approached the vehicle, their attention was immediately drawn to the demeanor of the rear passenger, who appeared extremely nervous, moving around in his seat, avoiding eye contact and breathing heavily. Officers spoke with the operator, later identified as Angelo Ribeiro, 20 years old of Boston, who was also breathing heavy, and appeared to be nervous. Officers observed a bulge in Ribeiro’s front right pants pocket, and as the officers continued to engage Ribeiro in conversation, he awkwardly covered his right leg with his right arm. Officers requested all parties to exit the vehicle. A pat frisk of Ribeiro revealed a black firearm in his right front pants pocket. The firearm, a black 9mm, was loaded with 9 rounds of ammunition in the magazine.
The operator, Angelo Ribeiro, was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. Ribeiro was also issued a Massachusetts Uniform Citation for Window Tint Violation. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court. The other two passengers were identified and released from the scene.
