Today the Officers of the Boston Police Department remember Patrolman Daniel J. McShane  Who was killed in the line of duty 99 years ago today.

Patrolman Daniel McShane was shot and killed shortly after midnight when he responded to the scene of a dispute between a tenant and a landlord at 17 Wheeler Street.

Patrolman McShane was a U.S. Army veteran of WWI veteran and had served with the Boston Police Department for two years, he was 25 years of age.

Patrolman McShane is Buried at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Mattapan, MA. His name is on the Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Massachusetts State Law enforcement Memorial Located at the State House in Boston. A Hero sign has been placed on District 4, at Wheeler Street.
