At about 6:48 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) made an on-site firearm arrest in the area of 68 Charles Street in Dorchester.
While on patrol officers located Jared Haynes, 19, of Boston who had several outstanding warrants for multiple Breaking and Entering incidents occurring on District B-2.
Mr. Haynes was walking on Charles Street when officers approached him, he fled on foot in the opposite direction. After a brief struggle, officers safely gained control of Haynes and placed him under arrest for the outstanding warrants.
Officers conducted a pat frisked of the exterior of the suspects bag and felt an object that was consistent with that of a firearm. A Smith & Wesson SD9VE firearm with eleven rounds of ammunition was recovered from the bag. Officers also located two baggies containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and a rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine.
Jared Haynes was arrested and charged with: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition Possession of Class B, Drugs (Cocaine) and Assault and Battery on a Police Officer. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
