About 8:03pm on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an on-site firearm arrest following a traffic stop in the area of 425 Seaver Street, Dorchester.
Officers were on random patrol when they observed a gray motor vehicle fail to stop for a red light at the intersection of Seaver Street and Columbia Road. The officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and conducted a traffic stop in front of 425 Seaver Street.
As the officers approached the motor vehicle, one officer observed several large bags of a green leafy substance, believed to be marijuana, in the rear pocket of the passenger seat. Officers asked the operator, identified as Ralph Altenor, 27, of Dorchester, to step out of the vehicle. Upon opening the front passenger door, a juice bottle fell out of the vehicle. As the officer bent down to pick up the bottle, he observed a firearm under the front passenger seat. The firearm, a Kel-Tec P11, was loaded, with 9 rounds in the magazine.
Ralph Altenor was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, and Failure to Stop for a Red Light. Altenor was also issued a MA Uniform Citation for the red-light violation. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
