About 12:44pm on Monday, February 22, 2021, members of the Violent Crime Task Force made an Armed Robbery arrest resulting from an on-going investigation into recent bank robberies.
Officers observed as a male, later identified as Richard Pimental, 60, of Jamaica Plain, exited a black motor vehicle in the area of Harris Avenue and Centre Street, and entered and exited three different banks located on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. Pimental then entered Citizen’s Bank, located at 696 Centre Street, and upon exiting, the officers observed him sprint away, looking back over his shoulder while removing a hat, mask and gloves. Pimental ran back towards Harris Avenue and was observed in the rear of the same black motor vehicle he was seen exiting earlier.
Upon confirming that a bank robbery had just occurred, officers conducted a traffic stop at 46 Carolina Avenue and placed Pimental under arrest. Officers recovered a pocket knife, $681.00 in United States Currency, as well as other items of evidentiary value.
Bank personnel determined that the total loss to be $681.00, and provided the officers with the bank robbery demand note from the teller station.
Richard Pimental was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. He is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court.
The operator of the black motor vehicle was identified and released.
