At about 10:10 PM on Saturday March, 13, 2021, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) made an onsite arrest after responding to a call for a person with a knife at ‘The Bell In Hand Tavern’ located at 45 Union Street in Downtown Boston.
On arrival, officers were advised that two adult male victims had been stabbed inside the establishment and that staff security members were attempting to restrain the suspect, later identified as Alex Brito, 36, of Randolph, on the main floor near the bar. The officers quickly made entry and observed the suspect violently struggling while two victims lay on the ground being tended to by other staff members. Officers were able to gain control of the suspect, placing him in custody and recovering a knife on scene. Boston EMS soon arrived on scene and transported both victims to a local area hospital for treatment of injuries of injuries which are currently deemed to be non-life threatening in nature.
The suspect will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (2 Counts), Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (2 Counts), Simple Assault and Battery, Resisting Arrest and Threats.
