At about 8:33 AM on Wednesday March 31, 2021, members of the District C-11 (Dorchester) and E-5 (West Roxbury) Drug Control Units executed two search warrants as part of an investigation in Dorchester. The warrants were issued out of Dorchester District Court for the target of their investigation, Scott Tavares, 51 of Roxbury, as well as a residence located at 114 Clarkson Street in Dorchester.
Officers first located the suspect, performing a traffic stop of a vehicle he was operating in the area of Dudley Street and Burrell Street in Roxbury. Officers removed the suspect at which time they recovered a small plastic bag containing crack cocaine along with $231.00 in U.S. Currency. While on scene, officers also confirmed that the suspect’s license had been suspended. The suspect was placed in custody without incident and transported to the district station for booking.
Officers then executed the second search warrant, making peaceful entry on Clarkson Street where they detained a male party on scene, identified as James Howard, 24, of Roslindale, as they began their search. As a result, officers safely recovered a loaded .380 Lorcin L380 handgun, 2 plastic bags containing approximately 11 grams of fentanyl along with other drug paraphernalia. Howard was placed in custody without incident after investigators established the proper charges relating to the seized items.
Both parties will appear in Dorchester District Court for arraignment. Tavares will be charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A and B Drugs and Operating a Motor Vehicle After Suspension or Revocation. Howard will be charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
