BPD Remembers: Today, the men and women of the Boston Police Department remember Officer Peter P. Oginskis who was killed in the line of duty 98 years ago today. Officer Oginskis died as a result of injuries sustained after he struck by a motor vehicle while operating a department motorcycle near Jamaica Pond.
Officer Oginskis was 27 years old at the time of his death and a two-year veteran of the Boston Police Department. Officer Oginskis is survived by his parents and multiple siblings.
Officer Oginskis is buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Hudson, New Hampshire. His name is located on the National Law Enforcement Memorial as well as the Boston Police Hero Wall at Boston Police Headquarters and the Law Enforcement Memorial at the State House in Downtown Boston.
A Hero Sign has been placed in his honor at the intersection of Pond Street and the Arborway in Jamaica Plain.
