At about 1:57 AM on Saturday, May 22, 2021, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force along with the State Police Gang Unit, made an on-site firearm arrest of Christian Lopez, 24, of Acton in the area of 41 Dorr Street in Roxbury.

While officers were in the area of Lambert Avenue and Rockledge Street, they observed a motor vehicle commit multiple motor vehicle violations (speeding, red light violation, fail to stop at stop sign and reckless operation).

Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop and safely approached and spoke with the driver, later identified as Lopez. Officers observed Lopez grab a dark object from his lap and place it under the driver’s seat. Lopez abruptly exited the vehicle and attempted to walk away.

Officers secured Mr. Lopez and recovered a loaded Ruger SR40 .40 caliber handgun with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine from under the seat. A CJIS inquiry was conducted and revealed that Lopez’ driver’s license was revoked. 

Christian Lopez was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm with Altered Serial Number and Operating After Revocation/Suspension. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
