Earlier this month, members of the “Where Angels Play Foundation” completed their work on a newly constructed playground named in honor of fallen BPD Officer Dennis ‘DJ’ Simmonds at Belcher Park in Randolph, MA. Officers Simmonds was posthumously promoted to the rank of Sergeant following his line of duty death which came as a result of injuries sustained during the capture of the suspects responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings.

Family and friends were on hand for a brief prayer service and dedication as the work was completed by members of the foundation along with numerous volunteers from the community and members of the current BPD Recruit Class, 60-20, who were honored to take part in the efforts.

We will never forget the service and sacrifice of Sgt. Simmonds and hope that children from the area can come and play in this beautiful park, named in his honor, where the simple inscription in the concrete reads, “In Honor of DJ:  Have Fun”.
