At about 12:35 PM on Friday July 9, 2021, officers assigned to District D-14 (Brighton) took a report for an attempted breaking and entering at a residence on Parsons Street in Brighton. Officers were provided with home surveillance video which showed a clear image of the suspect, later identified as Michael Ferranto, 26, of Brighton, attempting to gain entry through a basement window of the home before leaving the area on foot. The images of the suspect were provided to officers on duty who then began directed patrols in the area. At about 5:15 PM, officers stopped the suspect as he was walking on Harriet Street in Brighton. The suspect was still dressed in the same distinct clothing he wore during the earlier incident. While attempting to identify the suspect, he provided false information to the officers but they were ultimately able to determine his identify and confirm that he was wanted on and outstanding arrest warrant sought out of Brookline on numerous charges including Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession with Intent to Distribute Class C Drugs and Possession of Class B Drugs.

Additionally, the suspect will now appear in Brighton District Court on charges of Breaking and Entering of a Dwelling (Daytime) and Providing a False Name to a Police Officer.
