On Wednesday July 7, 2021 an officer assigned to District A-7 (East Boston) took a police report from an adult female victim who stated that while walking to work at about 4:00 AM in the area of 143 Porter Street she was approached by a male suspect, later identified as Korey David, 21, of East Boston, who asked for directions to the Maverick Square MBTA Station. The victim stated that as she began to provide directions, the male suspect grabbed her by the waist and made a threatening statement. The victim stated that she was able to break away but the suspect continued to follow her, grabbing her a second time while preventing her from using her cellphone to call 911. The victim then stated that a male party who was walking nearby at the time of the incident began to take notice of the struggle, causing the suspect to suddenly flee the area on foot.
The victim was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect, leading detectives to recover video evidence from a nearby location showing a clear image of the suspect. Investigators noted that the suspect appeared to be wearing a GPS monitoring device on his ankle. Through multiple investigative means, the suspect was positively identified and subsequently placed in custody without incident at about 6:09 PM on Friday July 9, 2021, in the area of 105 Chelsea Street in East Boston.
The suspect will appear in East Boston District Court on charges of Kidnapping and Assault & Battery.
