At about 1:36 AM on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of 570 Norfolk Street in Mattapan resulting in the drug and firearm arrest of Kendell Lodge, 29, of Quincy.
While patrolling the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Almont Street in Mattapan, officers observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed while weaving in and out of the marked lanes.
As officers activated their lights and sirens to conduct the traffic stop, they observed the driver reach down into the seat leaning over to the passenger side. Officers approached the motor vehicle, and instructed Kendell Lodge to exit the vehicle for officer safety.
Once removed from the motor vehicle, Lodge immediately fled on foot down Fessenden Street where he was eventually apprehended.
Officers conducted a pat frisk of the vehicle and recovered a loaded Taurus G2C 9mm firearm with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine. Also recovered was a large plastic bad containing 12 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
Kendell Lodge was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (2nd offense), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device and Possession of Class B, Drugs. Lodge is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
