About 4:38 PM, on Tuesday, July 13 2021, officers responded to a call to assist an off-duty police officer who observed a fight between at least five individuals in the area of Main Street and Walker Street in Charlestown.
As officers arrived on scene, they observed one suspect flee on foot while clutching a backpack close to his body. Officers were able to apprehend the suspect later identified as Joey Bosquet, 24, of Boston.
Bosquet began to violently flail his arms and kick at officers while spitting. Bosquet refused officers commands and resisted while squeezing the backpack with his legs.
A large group of people gathered and attempted to interfere as officers struggled for several minutes with Bosquet. Once officers controlled the scene, they recovered a loaded Smith and Wesson SW40V with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine from the back pack.
A second individual, David Matson, 48, of Charlestown, involved in the original incident was also arrested on a Quincy District Court Warrant for Possession of Class B Drugs.
Bosquet was charged with the following offenses: Possession of a Firearm without FID card, Possession of Ammunition without FID card, Carrying a Loaded Firearm on Public, Way, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Person and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm without FID card (Subsequent Offense).
Joey Bosquet is expected to be arraigned in Charlestown District Court.
