At about 8:51 PM on Thursday July 15, 2021, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a call for a disturbance in the area of Centre Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located an adult male victim who stated that he had been injured during an altercation with his neighbor, later identified as Shawn Savo, 51, of Dorchester. The victim stated that the suspect entered his home and struck him in the head with what appeared to be a black semi-automatic firearm. The suspect also threw a knife towards the feet of the victim several times, nearly striking him. The suspect then left the home and vandalized the victim’s motor vehicle before returning to his own residence nearby. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment of injuries which are considered to be non-life threatening.
When officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, he was uncooperative and barricaded himself inside the home. A code 99 was declared and officers assigned to SWAT and negotiators responded as well as additional responding officers that set up a perimeter.
At about 12:30 PM, the suspect agreed to surrender and was placed in custody on scene without further incident. The suspect’s home was then secured pending the issuance of a search warrant.
The suspect will appear in Dorchester District Court on charges of Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (to Wit: Gun), Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (to Wit: Knife), Home Invasion and Destruction of Personal Property.
