At about 8:32 AM, on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, Officers received a radio call for an Assault and Battery in Progress at the Copley Branch of the Boston Public Library.

Officers were advised by library staff that a male, later identified as Cornelio Conley, 43, of Boston, was seen publicly masturbating in front of the library. When asked to leave by library staff, Conley became combative and assaulted a member of library staff.

When Officers approached Conley to place him into custody, he began to resist officers' attempts to place him into custody.  Conley threw a tarp, striking one of the officers.  Additionally, Conley punched and bit officers.  During the struggle, Officers deployed department-issued OC spray in attempts to subdue Conley.  With the aid of additional responding units, Conley was taken into custody without further incident.  Boston EMS treated Conley for exposure to OC Spray.  Three Officers from this incident were transported to a local hospital to evaluate and treat non-life-threatening injuries.

Cornelio Conley is to be charged with Lewd, Wanton, and Lascivious Conduct, two (2) counts of Assault and Battery, four (4) counts of Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous weapon, Malicious Destruction of Property, and Resisting Arrest.

Conley is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
