On Wednesday, August 11, 2021, Patrick Byrne, a Boston Police Sergeant, was arrested by Troopers from the Massachusetts State Police and charged with Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol after allegedly being involved in a single car crash in Boston.

The BPD holds its officers the highest standards and takes this matter seriously. This arrest does not diminish the hard work of the men and women of the Boston Police Department,”
Byrne has been placed on Administrative Duty. The Boston Police Bureau of Professional Standards is aware of this arrest and has opened an investigation into this incident.
