At about 12:38 am on Monday, September 20, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 made an on-site firearm and drug arrest of Franklin Argueta, 25, of East Boston.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Geneva Avenue and Columbia Road when they observed a vehicle with excessive tint run a red light. Officers conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle in the area of Washington Street and Columbia Road. Officers approached the vehicle and noted that Argueta reached several times to a fanny pack that was located at his feet. Mr. Argueta was advised several times by Officers not to reach into the bag, and refused multiple commands from officers not to reach for the bag.  Argueta was removed from the vehicle for a frisk to be conducted. Officers then frisked the fanny pack and felt an object consistent with a firearm. Officers additionally recovered a white-rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine, a green-leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and a large amount of U.S Currency. Mr. Argueta was placed into custody without incident.

The firearm was determined to be a Glock 23 with eight (8) rounds of ammunition in the magazine. 

Officers recovered 41 grams of a white rock-like substance believed to be crack cocaine and 59 grams of a green, leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

Argueta is to be charged with the following offenses: Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of a Firearm without an FID Card, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Trafficking in Cocaine, Distribution Class D, Failure to Stop at Red Light, and Excessive Tint.

Franklin Argueta is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
