At about 5:55 pm, on Monday, October 18, 2021, Officers assigned to District B2 made an onsite firearm arrest of James Bowdre, 64, of Boston at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Esmond Street.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Maple Street and Seaver Street when they observed a motor vehicle fail to stop at a red light. As Officers attempted to catch up to the vehicle, Officers observed the vehicle fail to stop at another stoplight at Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.

Officers activated their lights and sirens, and the vehicle stopped at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Esmond Street. As officers approached the vehicle, they observed Bowdre make multiple quick movements in the vehicle. As Officers asked for Bowdre’s license and registration, they observed what appeared to be loose rounds of ammunition in the vehicle. Bowdre was removed from the vehicle and placed into custody without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a firearm.

The firearm was determined to be a Smith and Wesson Bodyguard .380 caliber. Also located in the vehicle were seven (7) rounds of .380 caliber ammunition and three (3) rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Bowdre is to be charged with Failure to Stop at a red light, Operating a Motor-Vehicle After Revocation or Suspension, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
